Sweet pepper "Criolla de Cocina"
Sweet Pepper "Criolla de Cocina".
Sweet as fruit, early as the morning!
An early-ripening variety, well-suited for cool climates. It produces small, wrinkled fruits 8-10 cm long, resembling the shape of Habanero peppers, but completely devoid of heat.
The thin skin hides very aromatic, tender flesh with a pronounced sweet, fruity taste. It is a real delicacy for fresh consumption.
Characteristics:
Plant height: 60-100 cm.
Fruit shape: Conical, wrinkled.
Texture: Dense, crunchy.
Colour: Rich red when fully ripe.
* From history: This variety is a family heirloom created by a Nicaraguan farmer in 1988 and popularized by the famous Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds company.
Cultivation.
Good predecessors: carrots, cabbage, beets, legumes (except kidney beans), and pumpkin crops. Important: peppers should not be placed next to cucumbers due to possible cross-inhibition.
Grown by seedling method. To obtain strong seedlings, seeds are sown in February in seed boxes with a loose soil mixture. Boxes covered with film or glass are placed in a warm place. The optimal temperature for seed germination is +23+25°C. Hardened seedlings are planted in open ground in early June, when the threat of recurrent frosts has passed.
